Building Connections
We're establishing a robust network of partners, supporters, and community members dedicated to advancing LGBTQIA+ literature.
Your collaboration allows us to:
-
Connect readers with affirming stories
-
Support authors and creators of LGBTQIA+ content
-
Partner with libraries and educational institutions
-
Foster community through shared stories and experiences
Together, we're building a more inclusive literary landscape where LGBTQIA+ stories are celebrated, valued, and accessible to those who need them most.
Our Diverse Collection
What started with a handful of Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) from our local independent bookstore has blossomed into something extraordinary. Today, Rainbows and Reflections proudly houses nearly 7,000 titles that celebrate, support, and amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and stories.
Our carefully curated library spans multiple genres and reading levels, ensuring that everyone can find themselves within our pages. We specialize in:
-
LGBTQIA+ representation across fiction and non-fiction
-
Mental health resources and personal narratives
-
Books celebrating diverse abilities and experiences
-
Multiple copies of select titles for book clubs and community programming
-
Unique standalone titles that add depth to our collection
Get Involved
We believe meaningful change happens through collaboration. By working alongside individuals, organizations, and industry partners, we can expand access to books and literacy resources and deepen our collective impact. There are many ways to contribute to and grow this work together.
Partner with us to extend the reach of stories.
We collaborate with those who create, curate, and steward books—including authors, publishers, literary agents, bookstores, and librarians—to ensure high-quality, diverse, and engaging reading materials reach readers of all ages who can benefit from them most. Together, we can move books beyond traditional spaces and into communities where access is limited.
Partnership opportunities include:
-
Donating books (new or gently used)
-
Sharing surplus inventory or advanced reader copies (ARCs)
-
Co-developing social media campaigns or book drives
-
Sharing upcoming titles from you or your clients that may align with community needs
-
Introducing our organization to your industry colleagues and professional networks
Through partnership, we can help more stories reach more readers.
Connecting individuals of all ages to affirming books during moments of need.
Access to books that reflect a person’s identity, lived experience, and interests can be a powerful source of comfort, stability, and hope—especially during times of stress, transition, or crisis. Research shows that access to affirming literature can reduce feelings of isolation and support overall emotional wellbeing, including lower rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation.
Our referral process is open and accessible. Individuals are welcome to self-refer, and referrals may also be made on behalf of a loved one, client, student, or community member.
Support may include:
-
Identity-affirming and inclusive books that reflect lived experience and identity
-
Age-appropriate books for children, youth, and adults
-
Chapter books for middle grade, teen, and adult readers
-
Themed or interest-based book bundles tailored to personal preferences
-
Support for building or rebuilding a home library
-
Targeted literacy resources aligned with emotional, developmental, or situational needs
We aim to match each request with thoughtful consideration of identity, representation, reading level, and personal interests to ensure the books received feel relevant, affirming, and supportive.
Referrals are welcome from anyone—self-referrals, caregivers, educators, healthcare providers, and community organizations alike. We respond based on available inventory and community capacity.

We also highlight Libros Salvo Vidas, our dedicated collection of Spanish-language and bilingual titles. This growing section reflects our commitment to expanding Spanish literacy initiatives and ensuring that language access is not a barrier to connection, learning, and support. In response to ongoing harm and fear experienced in immigrant communities, we are intentionally investing in resources that affirm dignity, belonging, and cultural identity through language.
Our Resource Library continues to evolve as we expand partnerships, respond to community needs, and build collections that reflect the full diversity of the readers we serve.
